is a creative writing course that teaches students how to use fiction as a way of exploring and expanding on real-life issues and events. Students will learn to write about subjects they know well and want to tell an engaging story in. This course will focus on the genre of creative nonfiction, a literary form that combines elements of autobiography, biography, criticism, travelogue, and journalistic prose. While each student will be encouraged to work on his or her own writing project throughout the semester, we will also explore

The course introduces students to an array of creative nonfiction texts. Students will gain an understanding of the important elements of creative nonfiction and the process of writing a story using craft strategies and tools.
