Course description. This course provides a brief introduction to nonfiction writing. Students will be introduced to the types of nonfiction, the characteristics of effective nonfiction, and how different styles are utilized in journalistic, educational, and artistic nonfiction. Emphasis is placed on developing writing strategies that will help students in a variety of genres including literary nonfiction, memoirs, and autobiographies. Course Description
This course focuses on developing students’ ability to write and read critically in a variety of genres. Students will examine the nature of literary texts, literature’s role in society, and the different purposes and audiences for which they are written. Students will also explore the evolution of genres and the ways in which these have changed over time.
