This course is a survey of the American short story. It covers works from writers like Stephen Crane and Ernest Hemingway, to authors like Joyce Carol Oates and John Updike. We will read short stories by three writers each week, including “Fitzgerald’s Last Transaction” by F. Scott Fitzgerald and “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.
