As Wilson’s career has spanned the 20th century, he has engaged with the Civil Rights Movement and with African-American culture. His plays, such as Fences, Gem of the Ocean, The Piano Lesson, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, King Hedley II, Jitney, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, and Radio Golf explored this dynamic cultural tapestry.
