and redefine their jobs.â53 Jobs vary inthe degree of discretion that they offer
but in many cases
employees may be able to designaspects of their own work. Outcomes include changes to the work itself as well asinteractions with others that may enhance the meaningfulness of the work performed.54 Athree-wave longitudinal study55 of 368 police officers found that job crafting was positivelyassociated with engagement
adaptability
and fewer stress demands during change.386
